A Coach's Guide to Building Mental Toughness (Mind)
Join this workshop to learn how coaches can improve their team's and athlete's mental toughness!
Registration Deadline: 30 April 2026
A Coach’s Guide to Building Mental Toughness is a highly interactive workshop designed to help coaches develop athletes who can perform under pressure, stay focused, and respond positively to challenges. Through hands‑on activities, real‑world scenarios, and practical coaching tools, participants will learn how to identify key behavioural indicators of mental toughness and apply simple mental skills techniques within everyday training sessions. Coaches will explore practical strategies such as goal setting, self‑talk, focus and reset routines, and pressure‑based training design. By the end of the workshop, coaches will leave with actionable strategies they can immediately apply to build confident, resilient, and mentally tough athletes.
With a distinguished career as Singapore’s first female professional boxer and a background in sports science, Nurshahidah brings a wealth of expertise in mental resilience, performance psychology, and athlete development. Holding a Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Health from the University of Western Australia, she has combined academic knowledge with firsthand experience in elite competition to develop strategies that enhance mental toughness.
