He wanted every child, no matter who they were or where they came from, to have the chance to play football. So, he started a team called Punggol AFA with no fancy sponsors, no big budget, and no fees.
From One Coach’s Dream to a Whole Community – The Story of Punggol AFA Once upon a time in Punggol, there was a coach named Rosli Abu Bakar with a big dream. He wanted every child, no matter who they were or where they came from, to have the chance to play football. So, he started a team called Punggol AFA with no fancy sponsors, no big budget, and no fees. It didn’t matter if a child’s family could afford it or not if they wanted to play, they were welcome. Coach Rosli trained them for free, rain or shine. But he didn’t just give his time… he gave his heart. This wasn’t just passion , it was something deeper. The kids noticed. They worked harder. They showed up early, stayed late, and gave their best every time. Soon, something beautiful happened , parents started coming down to watch. Some brought water, others brought snacks. Little by little, football days became family days. What started as a team became a community. Kids found a healthy hobby, parents found new friends, and families grew closer. And all of this began because Coach Rosli Abu Bakar decided to open the door not just to a football field, but to a place where everyone belongs. Punggol AFA is more than football. It’s a family. It’s a home. It’s proof that one person’s generosity can bring a whole community together
